Itinerary
Discover the natural beauty and ancient history of South Cappadocia on this full-day guided tour, sometimes called Green Tour because of the lush green of Ihlara Valley. Your professional guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel around 09:30.
Your first stop is Esentepe Panorama, one of the most impressive viewpoints in the region. Enjoy sweeping views over Göreme and the surrounding valleys while learning about the volcanic landscape that shaped Cappadocia.
Next, visit Derinkuyu Underground City, the deepest underground city in Cappadocia. This extraordinary multi-level settlement once sheltered thousands of people, complete with ventilation shafts, storage rooms, a missionary school, and a remarkable subterranean church. Your guide will explain how ancient communities used this complex network for protection during invasions throughout history.
After Derinkuyu, continue south to the lush Ihlara Valley. Enjoy a scenic 1–2 hour walk along the Melendiz River before stopping for lunch in the riverside village of Belisirma.
Following lunch, explore Selime Monastery, the largest rock-cut monastery in Cappadocia. Its vast cathedral-like interior and panoramic views make it one of the most impressive sites in the region.
On the drive back to Göreme, stop at the Pigeon Valley viewpoint for unforgettable photos.
The final visit is to a local onyx workshop, where you can watch a carving demonstration and browse unique handmade items.
