This centuries-old custom, rooted in Roman spa culture and refined during the Ottoman Empire, is still a cherished part of daily life. It’s the perfect way to relax tired muscles after sightseeing and enjoy a rejuvenating day of self-care.
Step into the warm marble chamber filled with soothing steam that helps release tension and detoxify the body. Dressed in the traditional waist cloth (pestemal) and wooden clogs, you’ll experience deep relaxation as your body adjusts to the gentle heat.
Your attendant will then perform an invigorating full-body scrub, removing layers of dead skin you didn’t know existed, leaving your skin soft and glowing. This is followed by a luxurious soap massage with rich foam. After a refreshing rinse, unwind in the cooling lounge with a comforting cup of Turkish tea.
